[DATE
CITY] Author Sandra Bell Kirchman
has been chosen to be included in '50
Great Writers You
Should Be Reading', produced
by The Authors Show for her first fantasy fiction novel, 'Witchcanery'.
"I am very happy," stated Ms. Kirchman, 'to be included in the book '50 Great Writers You
Should Be Reading.'
It’s too bad you can’t see my grin from ear to
ear. I am delighted, because it’s a way of putting
me and my book on a higher level of profile. When you
consider how hard it is to get promoted in today’s publishing
world, it is a great honor to be part of a book such as '50 Great
Writers...'
'Witchcanery'
spins the tale of Shelley Kesinkowsky who, at the age of 312 is a
relatively young, modern-day witch. And she has internet access.
Nowadays, when she gets messages from witch headquarters, it comes via
email, much neater than the old method of being dropped on the doorstep
by a raven. However, on the day that Shelley is deeply depressed by the
anniversary of her beloved adopted son Brad's death, she is roused out
of her blues by not one, not two, but three emails, only one of which
is junk mail. The other two are from the powers that be in her
life--the Witches' Sabben and the Grand Council of Wizards, and each of
these powerful bodies want her to do something different. The Sabben
wants Shelley to close up shop in Iowa and move to Montana for some
environmental applications.
At the same time, apparently, Planet Earth
is in deep trouble from the golem legionnaires of Mother Earth herself,
who has blown her top over the sloppy environmental practices of
Earth's humans. Thus, Shelley's special golem-creating ability becomes
a high-ticket commodity. The Grand Council of Wizards orders Shelley to
build a special golem that will mysteriously keep Earth alive, at least
until they can think up an alternative plan. Shelley opts to follow the
all-powerful Grand Council's orders. As if that's not enough for her to
deal with, the Council teams Shelley up with her wizardly nemesis,
Jason. Unknown to the young witch, however, is the deadly card the
wizard has up his sleeve, should Shelley's golem fail the task.
"I am grateful," continued Ms. Kirchman, "to Danielle Hampson, Don
McCauley and the staff at The Authors Show. Great and caring
people very often produce great and caring products. This
book is one of those."
